Cyberware
Cyberware has existed in Mirai City for some time and is common for prosthetic purposes, generally designed to be subtle through to completely internal and invisible. Some people who choose more obvious cybernetics are ‘Oni” or “Gargoyles” (slightly derogatory). Mirai City authorities keep a fairly close eye on human modification technologies, and outside of controlled experiments, it’s seen as generally inadvisable to have too many cybernetic replacement parts or augmentations given to a single person.Users of magic should also note that, as inorganic ‘unnatural’ materials, cyberware implants interfere with magical energy generation, as well as increase the risk of spells’ backlash.
Air Filters
Able to filter dust, smoke, or noxious gases from the air without external filtering or gas mask equivalent.
AR Interface
AR Interface lets a user with a cyberjack to overlay their computer systems work or information derived from that over their vision. This allows for full multitasking between physical and computer work, or improvements to observation, navigation, or similar skills due to the additional information displayed for easy perusal.
Autodoc
Generally invisibly hidden under the skin, this allows for limited healing via implanted capsule injector, which can be easily refreshed.
Communicator
Microphone and speaker implant that allow for connection to communications systems such as phone or radio without a physical handset.
Cyberjack
Brain implant that allows users to connect directly to computer systems or text interfaces without a physical keyboard. It also allows for (but does not come with) skill chips to improve a user’s abilities.
Face Changer
A complicated device that requires finesse to use effectively, a Face Changer completely replaces the wearer’s facial skin and muscles, but can be reconfigured to change their appearance on a moment’s notice. A careful observer may realize that the a person’s face isn’t ‘real’, but to a casual glance it’s almost undetectable.
Inbuilt
The inbuilt category of cyberware involves replacing a significant portion of a limb or body with a prosthetic that can also hold a secondary item or function. This is often a weapon (blade or firearm), but could potentially be any sort of item, such as a grappling hook.
Muscle Taping
Marketed to militaries, these muscle-like fibers are attached along muscle lines, enhancing the user’s strength and muscular endurance, although it is very distinct by the black, slightly mirrored, strips of material running across the wielder’s skin.
Prosthetic Replacement
Simple replacement of some important body part such as an arm or leg with an equivalent cybernetic replacement. These are usually engineered to look extremely close to the real thing, only detectable on close inspection.
Psychic Nullifier
Although not quite as good as the drug Aiteva, it doesn’t produce a woozy effect. The downside is that you do need to have some wires and hardware connected directly to your skull, making this a not so subtle piece of equipment.
Reflex Boost
Improves signalling between brain and body. This piece of equipment usually tends to be more obvious in nature than other equipment, with some degree of metal protruding from base of the neck and along the spine.
Sensory Enhancement
This covers enhancements to any sense, such as improved hearing or sight. These implants are often subtle in nature, with an eyeball enhancement only distinguishable from the real thing by close examination of the iris, for example.
Skill Chip
In conjunction with a Cyberjack, skill chips allow the user instant access to useful information about any topic or reflexive action. A user can have up to 5 skill chips in use at one time.
Sleep Regulator
Allows the user to manually control when they need to rest, including simply turning it off. Going without sleep for 48 hours has no ill effect; past that the user suffers minor impairments due to lack of sleep.
Subdermal Plating
Insertion of titanium or kevlar plating in critical areas under the skin allows for enhanced damage resistance.
Trauma Damper
This subdermal automated injector pushes adrenaline and other chemicals into the system automatically when the user takes heavy physical trauma, allowing them to keep going past their natural limits.
